The original Rocket III was Triumph's giant cruiser-roadster, built around a 2.3-litre longitudinal triple that was the largest-capacity production motorcycle engine at the time. It combines a twin-spine steel frame, shaft drive and big torque from low revs, with a very wide 240-section rear tyre. It was launched in 2004 and is fast for its size but heavy.
